Toll rises to seven

New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS) The death toll climbed to seven Wednesday, a day after a three-storey building collapsed in old Delhi, police said even as rescue operations were on.

'The death toll as of now is seven. We are hoping there is no one trapped in the debris anymore,' a police officer said.
The Katra Data Ram Ki Haveli in Chandni Mahal area near Jama Masjid collapsed Tuesday around 8 p.m. Tuesday. The incident left around 25 injured.
As the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), fire brigade officials and the National Disaster Response Force carried on rescue operations, police cordoned off the area.
Besides two unidentified people, the dead included 40-year-old Arshad and four women: Tabassum, 18, Shauqat Bi, 65, Fatima, 65, and Munni Devi, 70, who were declared brought dead at the Lok Nayak Hospital.
The building collapsed due to digging work in an adjacent under construction house, fire officials said.
About 500 members of the spiritual organisation Dera Sacha Sauda also rushed to the site to help in the rescue efforts.
'My mother in-law (Shauqat Bi) was travelling when parts of the building fell over her,' Salahuddin told IANS.
Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal, who represents the Chandni Chowk constituency, visited the injured at the hospital. Three of them were in critical condition. The Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari, also visited the hospital.
'There is lots of debris to be cleared,' said Jai Prakash, a member of the Dera Sacha Sauda.
MCD Commissioner K.S. Mehra has been asked to probe the incident, said MCD's Standing Committee Chairman Yogender Chandolia.

Centre must intervene:KCR's son

Shortly before being detained by police in Hyderabad during a protest, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leader K.T. Rama Rao warned the central and state governments that the situation could go out of hand.

The son of TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, K.T. Rama Rao demanded that the centre intervene before it is too late.
'The central government should intervene, make a statement, pacify the anger or else when things get out of hand, you will be responsible. Before violence erupts in Telangana, please respond,' he said shortly before being detained.
'The Reddy government is trying to suppress mass sentiment. If the situation gets out of hand tomorrow no one will be able to stop it. You may have hundreds of police, we have people in crores,' he warned, referring to the Congress government of N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.
Several TRS and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were detained Wednesday when they were protesting demanding a separate state of Telangana in Hyderabad.

First Families

Bollywood is a place where, on a daily basis, thousands of aspiring actors strive to become actors but only few of them make it to the top.
In an industry where most stars belong to families with a 'filmy' background some of them are lucky to be on top without any filmy background or a godfather.
However, the legacy of filmy families is still followed and it is not a hard task to land a film which is why, belonging to such a family really counts in Bollywood.
In this respect, we bring forth a list of some powerful families that seem to rule Bollywood.
The Kapoors
When it comes to famous Bollywood families, the first one to strike your mind would probably be the Kapoor family. The legacy was started by Prithviraj Kapoor who came to Mumbai to fulfill his dream of being a part of Hindi movies. After a successful run in Bollywood, his sons, the legendary, Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor came forth and leterally ruled over it for almost three decades. Then came the turn of Raj Kapoor's sons Randhir, Rajiv and Rishi Kapoor of whom, Rishi was the most successful in the the industry.
Taking up the Bollywood reins after them was Karisma Kapoor who went on to become one of the top actresses of her time. After Karisma, its younger siblings, Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor who are currently the hottest properties of the Hindi film industry.
The Roshans
The man who gave birth to the Roshan family tree in Bollywood was erstwhile music composer Roshan Lal Nagrath, father of Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan. Better known as Roshan, he composed music for quite a number of films like 'Barsaat Ki Raat' and 'Taj Mahal', and was a successful music director of his time. His two sons carried forward his name with Rakesh Roshan taking up acting and Rajesh Roshan, stepping into his father's shoes as a music director.
After Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan, the responsibility of keeping the Roshan flag flying in Bollywood lies solely on the shoulders of Rakesh Roshan's son, Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik is not only a successful actor but one of the most sought after superstar in the industry.
The Bachchans
The Bachchan family is considered to be the first family of Bollywood despite not having a huge line-up of Bollywood stars like the Kapoors. The Bachchan family, initially, comprised of actors Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and their son, Abhishek Bachchan. However, this family got a huge boost after Aishwarya Rai became a part of this clan after her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan.
Now, with the announcement of her pregnancy, we're guessing that another generation of the Bachchan family is on its way to take Bollywood by storm.
The Deols
Dharmendra started his very own family tree in Bollywood with his children following in his footsteps very easily. His sons, from his first marriage, took up acting and tasted success. However Sunny Deol was much more successful than younger brother Bobby Deol. Esha Deol, his daughter from his second marriage to Hema Malini, is also an actress but not a successful one. In fact, Esha is making her comeback in her mother's directorial, 'Tell Me O Khuda'.
Bollywood's First Families
Also a part of the Deol family is Abhay Deol, who is the nephew of Dharmendra. Despite being a part of the family, Abhay is totally different from the rest of his cousins. Instead of action oriented roles and commercial films, Abhay opts for unconventionality in his roles and films. We can easily say, that Abhay Deol is the best actor that the Deol family has produced.
The Mukherjees
When we talk about the Mukherjee family, we instantly think of Kajol, her sister Tanisha and Rani Mukherjee. However, the Mukherjee family goes a long way down in Bollywood history. The family's tryst with Bollywood began with Sha Mukherjee, the founder of the famed Filmistan studios.
His five sons followed him into the industry, one of whom was 60's actor Joy Mukherjee. Shomu Mukherjee, who was a writer/producer/director, married Tanuja who, on the other hand, belonged to the Samarth family and was the younger sister of one of the most celebrated actress of Bollywood, Nutan.
Tanuja's daughters, Kajol and Tanisha also went on to act in movies with Kajol achieving superstardom. Her cousin, Rani Mukherjee is also a sought after actress in Bollywood and like Kajol, she too has created a niche for herself.
The Khans
No, we're not talking about the 'Khans' of the industry but only one family that has contributed to and gained from Bollywood to a great extent. The Khan family being mentioned here is the one started by noted script-writer Salim Khan, more famous as Salman Khan's father today. In collaboration with Javed Akhtar, Salim Khan churned out massive hits like 'Sholay', 'Zanjeer', 'Seeta Aur Geeta' and 'Mr. India'. His second marriage was with yesteryear dancer/actress Helen.
All sons, Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail took to acting but only Salman Khan made it big in the industry. Presently, he holds the record of churning out some of the biggest hits in the past few years and is also the highest paid actor in Bollywood reportedly. After an unsuccessful run in the industry, Arbaaz Khan struck gold with his first production 'Dabangg'.
Another member of the Khan clan who is quite a hot property in the industry is Arbaaz Khan's wife, Malaika Arora-Khan. Her item numbers are always a rage and she is a leading fashionista in the film industry. Apart from being a fully filmy clan, this family is a tight-knit one.

Dia Mirza Loves Sahil Sangha

Whispers in B-town of "Is she? Isn't she?" can finally be laid to rest with Dia Mirza going public about her relationship with Sahil Sangha.
Dia surprised everyone during the music launch of of 'LBZ', when she accepted the fact that she was indeed in love with Sahil Sangha. She also stated that marriage is definitely on the cards for the two but not anytime sooner.

For those unaware, Sahil Sangha is the director and co-producer of the upcoming flick 'Love Breakups Zindagi' (LBZ). The movie is a romantic comedy which stars Dia Mirza, Zayed Khan, Cyrus Sahukar, Tisca Chopra along with newcomers Umang Jain and Satyadeep Mishra.

B-town had been speculating constantly about the relationship status of the two. In the meanwhile, the two always maintained that they were just 'good friends' like so many other Bollywood couples. 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'

There is something to be said for YRF’s cultural bankruptcy when a wafer-thin plot from the formula that made it a powerhouse in the last century is resurrected in 2011. 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' borders on self-parody in many ways: an NRI brother (Ali Zafar) in London breaks up with his girlfriend, calls up his brother (Imran Khan) insisting that must be married to a good Indian girl by Christmas, the brother goes on a bride-hunt only to realize that the prospective bride (Katrina Kaif), the daughter of an Indian Foreign Services officer (which, I suppose, justifies Katrina’s strange Hindi accent in the Kaif-Kalki era of exotic heroines), is someone he had met as a wild gal who held impromptu concerts to a throng of frenzied fans from greater Agra.
All other props that entail the great Indian wedding are then thrown in: Kanwaljeet and Parikshit Sahni and their respective spouses play the in-laws-to-be; North Indian bumchums from the protagonist’s childhood hang around; a naaniji in a wheelchair glides by every now and then. The bride-to-be even has a demented brother (modelled on Dustin Hoffman in 'Rainman'/Tom Hanks in 'Forrest Gump'), who perennially holds a Rubik’s cube in his hand and repeats his sentences in a hackneyed staccato.
Through the arrangements for the wedding, Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif realize that they are in love with one another, despite the incestuous connotations. Soon the slow brother, the country bumpkin buddies, and the groom’s ex, alongside the lovers, conspire to botch this impending wedding. It takes over two hours for this plan to come to fruition by when you are pretty much like Katrina’s demented brother in this film.
Everyone is decidedly hi-energy throughout the film; Ranveer Singh’s success in 'Band Baaja Baraat' must have played some role in this ‘let’s all act like we’ve downed ten Red Bulls’ school of acting. Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan both have terrific screen presence and exude undeniable charisma, except when they are forced into gags that can best be described as un-funny. It is to their credit that the film is somewhat bearable, despite the clichés that plague it from start to end. Ali Zafar too appropriately merges urbane smugness with a bucolic twang.
Aside from the cloying silliness of the venture, two crucial factors make the film a no-brainer: why would you imagine that reasonably educated young folks would jump into matrimony this easily at the risk of destroying their lives? While all the technology that represents the ‘young’ generation is carefully highlighted (Ali Zafar’s girlfriend in the film’s opening sequence smashes his LCD television set, Ali and Kaif have their marriage interview over Skype), the film doesn’t catch the pulse of the independence of the younger generation. Secondly, one cannot feel empathetic towards characters that are so insouciantly attempt to destroy their own lives, and that of those close to them.
While 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' is bad enough for the future of incest in India, it bodes much worse for the future of Indian cinema.

Sonu Nigam, a name to reckon with in the world music fraternity, can be best described as someone with raw energy, startling talent and a performer par excellence. And this time he has done it again by collaborating with none other than the youth icon of today and the singer of 'Baby one more time', the mesmerizing Britney Spears. It's the fusion of east meeting west with an Indian touch to it. The song is called iI Wanna Goi. And is a current chart topper on the international charts. Sonu, who's currently shooting for a video in Leh and Ladakh, told us that he had kept this news under wraps as he wanted Britney and her management to announce it. This is Britney's personal album and she's very passionate about it. To Sonu's utter surprise, Britney decided to send a personalised tweet to Sonu praising his rendition and that he's taken the song to a different level. This is by far the biggest ever collaboration between two singers of America and India feels 'Desi-hits', the people responsible for this collaboration. Sonu has personally composed and written his bits in the song and Dj Lloyd has worked on the grooves. So after 'This is it' with Jermaine Jackson that hit the market just recently, this is Sonu's second International release in a month.
